Warning: Microsoft Surface tablets are difficult to identify. To my knowledge, no serial number on the back can identify what type of service it is.
To identify:
- Visit the Microsoft Device service and repair site to register the device serial number to a Microsoft account (it can be your own). See Find the serial number on Surface if you are unsure where this is on your device. This will tell you if the device is in warranty, and also what surface model you have.
- You can chat with Microsoft or call Microsoft to find out. You simply will need to give them the serial number on the back.
- If the touch screen works, you can use the System Information app to view your system info. From Search, type system and then select System Information from the list of results.
One last note: The Microsoft Surface Pro 3, 4, and 5 have several screen versions. In order to find out what screen version, we will need to take apart the Surface Pro and look at the part number on the screen. A manager can help give a quote for this.
